Important Lithium Battery Safety Instructions
Before using or charging any lithium-ion or lithium-polymer battery, you must read and understand the following safety warnings:
-
Lithium-ion and lithium-polymer batteries are volatile and must be handled with care.
-
Improper use may result in fire, serious injury, or property damage.
-
By purchasing these batteries, the buyer assumes all risks associated with lithium battery use.
-
Do not use or sell batteries unless you are capable of safely handling emergencies related to battery failure.
-
Always follow the charging and discharging instructions listed by the manufacturer.
-
Charge batteries only in fireproof containers, placed in isolated areas away from flammable materials.
-
Never leave batteries charging unattended.
-
Keep all batteries away from children and pets.
-
Use only UL-certified chargers designed specifically for the battery type.
-
Never modify chargers, batteries, or wiring.
-
Always confirm correct polarity when charging (positive to positive, negative to negative).
-
Do not mix old and new batteries or different brands together.
-
Replace batteries once they reach the end of their service life or after two years, whichever comes first.
-
Do not use batteries that are damaged, dented, punctured, swollen, or altered in any way.
-
Always use chargers with built-in protection circuits.
General Battery Safety Guidelines
-
Use only lithium-specific chargers. Never use NiMH or NiCd chargers.
-
Never charge batteries unattended or overnight.
-
If a battery swells, smokes, overheats, or emits odor, stop charging immediately and place it in a safe outdoor area away from combustible materials.
-
Batteries may ignite even after removal from a charger—monitor for at least 15 minutes.
-
Avoid short-circuiting battery terminals. Contact with metal objects can cause serious injury.
-
Do not store or charge batteries in extreme temperatures or inside vehicles.
-
Never drop, puncture, or modify batteries.
-
Keep batteries clean and properly enclosed.
-
Do not rewrap batteries.
-
Use protective enclosures whenever possible.
Charging Guidelines
-
Charge only on flat, ventilated, non-flammable surfaces.
-
Allow batteries to cool to room temperature before charging.
-
Do not overcharge batteries.
-
Never charge batteries using phones, tablets, or standard USB ports.
-
Do not bypass or disable safety features.
-
Charge each battery individually—do not charge in series.
-
Always select the correct voltage and cell count listed on the battery label.
-
Never exceed the manufacturer’s recommended charge current.
Storage & Transportation
-
Store batteries between 40°F and 80°F whenever possible.
-
Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight or heat.
-
Do not stack batteries.
-
Never carry loose batteries in pockets.
-
Keep batteries away from metal objects.
-
Store batteries in protective cases or insulated containers.
-
Regularly inspect batteries for wear or damage and dispose of them properly if compromised.
Battery Care & Maintenance
-
Use high-quality chargers only.
-
Verify voltage levels after the first charge.
-
Avoid deep discharge below safe voltage levels.
-
Prevent punctures or physical damage.
-
Recharge stored batteries at least every two months to maintain performance.
Battery Life & Disposal
Batteries that lose 20% or more of their capacity must be removed from service and disposed of properly. Batteries stored unused for more than two months should not be recharged or reused.
